Homage au Pierre
Westinghouse logo. Original art tshirt printed with discharge inks on ultra soft 100% ring-spun cotton.
This comes from my old friend, Peter Artin, who was one of my best friends in high school. Peter's mother used to call the two of us "Robespierre" (as in, Rob and Peter). Later we shared an old factory loft space in downtown Knoxville TN, along with a few bats and a rat.
Back in the early 1980's Peter lived in New York City while attending Cooper Union and was known for his graffiti utilizing both the Westinghouse and General Electric logos. For a time, Peter was hanging out with Jean-Michel Basquiat, and I'm fairly certain Warhol's use of the GE logo in his collaborations with Basquiat was a direct result of Warhol seeing Peter wearing a t-shirt he'd printed with the GE logo.
Peter was (is) a remarkably creative artist whom I have a great deal of admiration for.
