Back story:
I've done a lot of long distance bicycle touring in the US over the years. All my trips were self-supported, meaning fully loaded bags, no support van. This shirt is in memory of a particular morning, near dawn, when we (my friend Tim and I) were on the Natchez Trace Parkway. We were still in the tent when an owl flew up and landed on the leaf covered ground outside the tent right next to my head. It couldn't have been more than 12 inches away from me when it started hooting. Perhaps it caught a small mouse there in the leaves, I don't really know. But, the experience was stunningly memorable.
