Back story:
I walk every morning from home to the print studio, and my walk takes me down through the center of the UC Berkeley campus. There is this one big, beautiful Ginkgo tree there that I always admire. It reminds me of a Ginkgo tree in Knoxville that I would walk past almost every day when going to classes at UT. They tie together distant parts of my life.
In their uniquely different form, I find the shape of Ginkgo leaves to have a wonderful sense of deep, geological history. Recognizably similar leaves in the fossil record date back nearly 300 million years.
