Back story:
I've long been in love with flight. As a small child I found a book at my grandparent's house that has defined much of how I think and see the world. This was back in the mid-1960's and the book was about the 21st century, which seemed an eternity in the future to my child brain.
Illustrations of supersonic passenger aircraft caught my attention. Flight was already amazing. Supersonic passenger flight seemed insanely great to me. And, I thought, if the 21st century was going to be THAT amazing, then what about the 22nd century? Then it dawned on my young mind that I wasn't going to see the 22nd century. It was my first true awareness of my own mortality.
Strangely, my response since that time has eternal excitement. (1) I still absolutely adore things that fly and am now an instrument rated Private Pilot, and (2) I find myself continually focused of the future. In both art and business this translates into "creative tension." It's the tension between where I am and where I see myself going that drives me to create. As I move forward in what I do, my destination moves further forward still.
