The Vought F4U Corsair was a carrier-based WW2 fighter bomber aircraft. Something over 12,000 of these were built, of which about 77 survive today. The engine was an 18 cylinder radial, 2000hp Pratt & Whitney. It's a beautiful piece of both design and engineering.
I worked up this one color design by finding old blueprints for the aircraft and reconstructed the image over that using Adobe Illustrator.
