Pull Out Wire
This is an exploration of art as context (a la Marcel DuChamp). On one hand, this is a simple graphic which I found many years ago on an old spool of electrician's wire and is only barely meaningful as instructions that would already be obvious to the user. On that level it almost has a comical sensibility. What interests me about this image is what it starts to become when placed in other contextual relationships. Placed on a t-shirt over the breast the viewer is compelled to start making new associations.
The second photo here is the original find that the graphic was built off of.
One color print on a premium quality, ringspun 100% cotton, black shirt.
Printed with water-based inks for a soft feel.
